MENU

We are at the end of a very short but very busy half term! So much has been achieved by our children in the 19 days that they have been in school since Easter. Especially our Year 6 children who showed amazing resilience, confidence and concentration throughout their SATs week. We were very proud of you all and how you tackled the week calmly and supporting each other. Well done all!

We have also had success on the football pitch, as our Year 5 team have reached the Dudley finals, hosted by us on the 27th June! Well done Team!

Our Governors have also paid a visit to school this half term. They were in and out of lessons, talking to children and staff and walking the building with our site manager. The governors always tell me how much they enjoy being in the building and can see the fantastic provision our children are getting.

We wish you all a lovely half term and we will see you all back in school for our final half term of this academic year on Monday 2nd June.

Recycling Bins

New legislation that came in to force this April has meant that, at school now, we must separate and recycle our mixed recycling (plastic and cardboard), our food waste and general waste. The children have been brilliant getting used to this at school and we have purchased new bins for the playground (chosen by The Green Team) to help the children separate their rubbish properly.

You may have seen your child bringing home some of their packaging in their lunchboxes, as most of the bins we have in the dinner hall are for food waste and some of the packaging would need washing before being recycled, which we cannot do in the dinner hall, so we have asked children to take some of their lunchbox rubbish back home with them to recycle properly eg yoghurt pots etc.

Well done to The Green Team who organised a litter pick in the community so that we could spread the message further about the importance of rubbish being disposed of in the right way so that we can improve the environment.

Food waste collections are going to be implemented for houses in Dudley by April 2026, so our children will be so used to this by then, and they will all be able to help at home too!

SEND Spotlight

This half term I wanted to share some information on Speech and Language in our school. Speech and Language gaps for children can often present as a hidden barrier to learning and can often disguise itself as a child who doesn't listen, can't follow instructions and is misbehaving. As a school we have had the WellComm training and we use the screening tool for all of Pre-school children, Reception children and any new children to school to identify quickly whether there is any speech and language gaps in their understanding. We can then teach these gaps to ensure this does not continue to be a barrier to learning as they move through school. If you would like any further information about this, please talk to any of the staff.

Toilet Makeover!

Watch this space! Mr Paternotte is working hard over the holiday next week to transform our boys toilets for Years 2,3 and 4.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Mrs Hallett, who is expecting her first child in the Autumn Term. She will hopefully be with us for the start of next year for a little while before she takes the time to enjoy being a Mom.
